Morning all,
Been lurking and enjoying this group for a couple months now (as long as I've been in the hobby) and have learned alot! Thanks for all the info. I'm switching my 24" X 16" X 18" ,37 Gal FOLR from crushed shell and gravel substrate to sand this weekend and would like to drill a hole for a future sump while it's empty. What would the minimum size be for the drain hole? I would imagine it would depend on the sump size and return pump. I will probably modify a 20 Gal. for the sump and could use help on what size of pump to use too. Any feedback would be *greatly* appreciated as most of the books at our library are really out dated and would like more that just the word from the LF stores. Thanks! Glen G (GG) -- .. |

Assuming you are drilling this into the bottom of the tank, 1" is usually
good for 600GPH. For the pump, it depends on the amount of flow you want. Try the Reef Central head loss calculator. I would imagine a Mag 7 would be about right. "gg" wrote in message ...
