Religion and politics...why?

Simple...
It's because Christians have given up on the Gospel to change lives and now
look to politicians to do their evangelising for them. They look to
politicians to make laws to force nonbelievers to act like their conception
of how a believer should act. "The World" is the world and sinners do what
sinners do, but, instead of bringing them Christ Jesus who has the power to
effect eternal change in people's lives and the power to wash their sins
completely away, the church looks to politicians to just dab a little
deodorant on them to make them smell better.


And honest answer. So many Christian today don't follow Jesus
teaching, but follow those of men.

If many atheist see this, they would have a new trust in the bible.

As a boy growning up in a Baptist church, the preacher absolutely refused to
even tell anyone who he voted for ... now preachers try to tell you who to
vote for.

I suppose it depends on how far you take 2 Cor 6:17 ("...be ye
separate..."). I try to not take my Christianity into the voting booth
and try to do it with my human rights hat on. However, having the mind
of Christ makes that a near impossible task. I try to vote my
conscience, my beliefs, and definitely leave the opinions of religious
leaders out of it. I have been a Christian long enough (31 years) to
know what the Bible says about certain things and what it doesn't say
about others. I know that the Bible is very pro social justice, as was
Jesus. I don't need a denomination or sect or so-called Christian
authority to do my thinking for me - I have already "rightly divided
the Word of Truth" enough to go with what I know God would want me to
do. That's on the voting end; as far as getting involved in politics
in the way of activism, picketing, voter registration, etc., etc. I
say go with your gut instincts on this. If you are a Christian, follow
Christ's example, have the Holy Spirit dwelling within you - then you
can hardly go wrong. And if you do - well, it's my experience that God
will make it clear to you in time whether you should stay the course
you are on or go down a different road. If you have gone the wrong way
honestly believing you were doing the right thing then I also know that
God is not going to "smote" you or some nonsense like that - stepping
out in faith is part of the Christian life. God knows and expects us
to make mistakes...
