I have a buddy who is moving and is offering his system to me. It is about
40 gal, 30"x12.5"X25" and has the stock 2X18w lighting (Eclipse system 3 I think they call it.). He has some live rock and sand and a fwe small damsels in it. I'd very much like to get back into the hobby and I know that amount of light is real low. I want to grow some soft corals (shrooms, colt, xenia) etc in there, real basic. I googled a retro of that system and did not find much but a link to customsealife.com (who has ceased operations apparantly) Does anyone know of a PC retro that will work in the system and boost the lights, say maybe 2X55? Any thoughts/ideas would be helpful. He wants 150 for the system and I'm willing to put in a few more bucks to start, but I have to tell him by this weekend. Thanks in advance!!! |

do it. 2x55 watt ( one actinic and one white ) works very well
on that exact system if you primarily want softies and xenia. I've had that setup doing very well for quite some time. I built a wood canopy with dual fans ( 1 each end ) for it. got rid of the eclipse top in the process. plumbed an over flow which let me put the skimmer , heater in the sump/refugium below in the stand ( which I also built ). using a 10 gallon aquarium as the sump. 2 x 55 watt PFO retro at premium aquatics http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merch...gory_Code=PFOc "John Smith" wrote in message news:NdPzc.1965$tC5.877@fed1read02...
