Default traveling snail to the filter....

Thought you might enjoy this,
I have a big double sided whisper filter, my ivory mystery snail is pretty
active meaning all over the tank, I have all the snails in the goldfish tank
at the moment which is pretty big, a lot of glass for them to cover, I could
only find three of them and I was looking and happened to look in the filter
because this morning I noticed he was climbing up the extension tube, he
climbed all the way up the extension tube out of the water to go over the
little valve you adjust the water flow with, back down into where the bio
sponge is and was just hanging out there. I pulled him up and put him back
in the tank, a few bubbles came out of his shell and off he went right back
to the extension tube, guess its like the game with babies where they drop
something and you pick it back up just for them to throw it again. maybe he
wants attention.

Here is one more to tell you what an airhead I have been, I seen those
jungle clear water tabs, and picked them up because even with water changes
my goldfish tank was still cloudy, I was to the point I was changing some
water every day, not a lot but still, I was telling my husband I got them so
the tank would be purple (so he did not think the kids put something in it)
he started to laugh and said how about I just clean it with the tank sponge
....I said for what that wont make the water clear, he went in and cleaned it
and sure enough it was clear as new water....eww ....he just smiled at me
and went back to what he was doing...it never occurred to me that it was the
glass and not the water....

*grin* A long time ago, I commented on how clear a friend's tanks were.
He told me that the one thing that makes a tank look its best is to
have clean glass both inside and out. It's one of the best little bits
of advice I've ever gotten.

I had friends over from the aquarium society over to see my tanks and
they commented on how clear the water was. They didn't believe me, but
I'm sure it's because I scrupulously cleaned the glass that morning.

you know I don't even know why I did not think of that, I guess because in
my gourami tank the glass is always so clean I don't bother cleaning the
inside...I also have a pl*co hard at work in that tank. I wonder if the
pl*co would like that tank better....do they do better in warm or cold tanks
I guess warm huh....
Nik

koi-lo...I don't know what the h*ll they think is in that filter but that
one snail is sure that is where he wants to be, I was surprised going out of
the water did not kill him, I guess its only a small space he went though to
get to the other side. I was very surprised to see him there...

Maybe your snail is channeling Nemo and
trying to escape back to the wild?

I had a snail that would come in and out of the filter. When i took
the tank apart I found that it was where it was reproducing. There
were hundreds in there, especially in the undergravel filter.

Hope you won't get the same problem

Mellie
