![]() "Gill Passman" wrote in message ... From the places I've looked at Derek is right....it's hard to spot stuff on the rural locations (including the UK) and the photos in the rural areas are also quite old (at least the UK ones I've looked at). The ones of my property being used are ancient as all I saw was my neighbor's old barn which was torn down in the 1980s. None of the neighbor's houses show, nor does the subdivision down the road - and it been there for years now. I can see my house very well even down to the car in the drive but I live in an urban area....and yep, in an urban area you can spot ponds if large enough but, as on some rural areas you can't even spot the house the chance of seeing a pond would be non-existent IMO... ![]() "~ janj" wrote in message ... I'd be surprised if you could see Jan's ponds either... Checked it out, and my house is almost a direct shot downward, and I can't make out any pond. Unlike pools that are bright obvious blue, ponds are just black holes that kind of blend in with shade from trees and such. Since there is a lot of building going on in our area, to date it, the photo looks to be almost a year old. ~ jan ========== The one of our property has to be prior to the mid-late 1980s as all there is to see really are some old farm buildings that were torn down many years ago on the land next to me - if indeed the pic is of our property. There's a large mobile home on that lot now, and has been since at least 1988. No one else's house shows, including mine. Nothing in the photo looked familiar. Gill =============================== You'll get to a pond.... it's inevitable. ;-) We got the forms in today and part of the berm cemented. The koi are doing fine in the 500g tank behind the house. We were worried about ammonia (N-Cycle) but there's none. We used their filter plus the one from the 780g tank of fingerlings I recently sold. In the end I could just pick out your house but little more...same applies to others in a rural location...my Dad lives up in Scotland and his son-in-law has a loch, stream and trout farm but you can see none of it and this is on a massive scale (and very nice the trout are when cooked - I have a great recipe but maybe not appropriate on a fish newsgroup - he brings them down on his visits)....small price to pay maybe for me being forced off of my pc and newsgroups....without going into names (because I don't want to freak anyone) someone looks as if they live in a brown blob in some woods near a highway....didn't spot any ponds but a great place to live nonetheless....hey, you live in a white blob...he lives in a brown one.... In reality it has the great potential for sharing....I've enjoyed looking at localities....has to be a big thanks to Roy for giving us the inspiration.....thank you mate... Gill |

Wow, looks to be quite a walk when you take one, no wonder you find people swimming in it from time to time. Can you even see it from the house? What kind of trees are the majority? A: about a hundred yards; not all that far. B: Can't _quite_ see it from the house. C: The trees are mostly red pine; planted about 40 years ago, 10 before I bought the land. The pond is about 20 years old; took 4 days with a turbocharged D-6 and a contractor who knew what he was doing.
