Default Anyone build their own leaf traps?

I have an external pump that I'm going to use for my pond; I need to
install a leaf trap on the intake side. I have looked at the
commercially available ones and they look like pretty simple devices.
Has anyone here built their own?

Sure they are easy to build.....only hrting thats good to buy is the
actual basket itself, alll other parts canbe made out of PVC pipe of 6
or 8" diam. Having a lathe is a nice help but still not necessary.
Unless you can buy the pvc etc cheap it may still be cheaper to buy
one already made as they are only about$60. A basket is about 9 or 10
bucks, and 6" or larger PVC is not exactly cheap, but its possible to
scrounge lots of this stuff up free of charge.
