I have an all-in-one pump/filter/fountain. Recently it has started falling
over and on one occasion it rose completely out of the pond! There's lots of air in the pump when I stand it upright. I don't know why it's started doing this (it's just a year old). I think it might be to do with hair algea getting caught around the vents and perhaps the pump is sucking the air from the algea? Any ideas? Cheers, Steve |

*Note: There are two "Koi-Lo's" on the pond and aquaria groups.

There's lots of air in the pump when I stand it upright. It sounds as though it may be defective. If still under warranty you need to return it. The water may also be too shallow in your fountain or pond allowing air to be sucked in. Can you release the air and try setting it in deeper water? I don't know why it's started doing this (it's just a year old). I think it might be to do with hair algea getting caught around the vents and perhaps the pump is sucking the air from the algea? You may want to try removing this algae. If it's a fountain you can use one of the products designed to keep algae from growing in the water. Any ideas? Cheers, Steve -- Koi-Lo.... Hi there,
I've removed a lot of this algea. I'll let you know if it does the trick. I think the water is deep enough, as I needed to use an extension attachment so the head of the fountain extended out of the water. If not, than do as Jan suggested and weigh it down with something. Water lettuce, inexpensive and easy to find starves this algae out if you toss in some potash. -- Koi-Lo....
