I've used the same Seatest hydrometer for 14 years. I just rinse it out with hot water once in awhile. If I got another one to compare measurements, it would just complicate things. ![]() That's what happened to me. Found my old Seatest and compared it to my new Coralife....EEEK! |

That's what I mean! I don't want to know! I run 3 skimmerless tanks too. Just weekly water changes and the same hydrometer. |

Why no protein skimmer ?
I go a lot by the look of the water -- I don't have a protein skimmer, and if the airstone starts making a teeny foam on the water, I do a water change. Been running the tank for 3 years without a test kit except a hydrometer. Understocked too though. But it freaked me out when suddenly I couldn't trust the hydrometer. |

At the time I set it up I couldn't even find a skimmer small enough that had a decent review, but anyway there's nowhere to put one that doesn't look terrible. So I do regular water changes instead. |

Yep, I like seeing the anemones perk up when the fresh water hits them. Now I have the 2-liter Coke drank and I'll check the hydrometers today. I hate the Coralife one anyway, I have to fill it and dump it about 3 times to get the bubbles off, the Seatest is easier to use. "They just don't make 'em like they used to...." ![]() |

Augh excuses excuses !
Why don't you just drill a hole in the bottom of the tank and run a pipe down though you cabinets into you basement into a 50 gallon refugium w/skimmer and then pump it back up... hehehe ; ) "Cindy" wrote in message . com... Your statements in this thread are like you were from a different world... Are you having fun with us or something? It is just unreal... :-)) You have problems with water bubbles in a hydrometer kind which is perfectly designed to minimize the effect of water rushing in (by the usage of high dam and opening from the bottom) but you do not have problem with the old style one, with the water rushing in like crazy... Go figure! "They just don't make 'em like they used to...." ![]() Exactly! They make them much better now :-)) |

Did your mama forgot to teach you any manners?? I'm reporting my experience. I prefer the Seatest to the Coralife. Hope that's okay with you.
