would loud music effect the fish if the tank waS in the same room a band
sometimes jam? okay or will it frighten the fish too much?

Yes it could frighten the fish, though fish are capable of
getting used to it.

Speaking from experiance. A friend of mine used to maintain a tank in a
bar. The tank was setup beside the stage. They would have live bands
every 2 weeks. Within a week of a live band, all the fish would be dead.

Now I think you could do a reef tank without the fish, but I'm not sure.

I was a reefer and audiophile for over 35 years. I ran SPL levels up to 110-120 db's,
sometimes for hours and never lost a thing

You gotta be brave or stupid to set up a tank in a bar. It was probably
the drunks or the band putting out their cigarettes that killed the fish.
