"silly old people?" calm down karate kid.
![]() my 68k pic would have been accepted if newsgroups started out on "today's" technology... that's all I'm saying.. or theorizing. "miss the fact" - now you are just trying to put me down a bit. I'm on this newsgroup for help with my aquarium and for general learning about aquariums. The way people flex their "superiority" around here is really taking away from the enjoyment. I used to think "Wow these people are really nice for sharing their time helping strangers". It has now seemed to turned into a group of people disguising themselves until they can prance on opportunity to flex at others' expense. And yes I'm also thinking of several threads but more recently the "How smart are fish?" thread that has turned into a bunch of aetheist attacking a spiritual few on the board. I know I haven't been on here long and don't know everyone's personalities... I know that this happens quite a bit in newsgroups too, but I don't subscribe to those anymore for that fact. Can we just get back to enjoying the hobby? We don't need to know how well rounded each player is here. We don't need to know either if you agree on religion or you known a lot about a non-reef topic since the 80's. Don, this was not directed at you... I just chose to use my reply to you to write something that I wanted several to read. Can't wait to see how many people dump on me now... B "Don Geddis" wrote in message ... You're suggesting the etiquette is outdated, and just a product of silly old people who haven't changed with new technology. You've missed the fact that the volume of data in Usenet newsgroups has grown faster than either bandwidth or hard drive space. The binaries newsgroups place significant strain on even large, well-connected servers. There are good reasons to keep most discussion groups text-only. -- Don __________________________________________________ _____________________________ Don Geddis http://reef.geddis.org/ Cluelessness: There are no stupid questions, but there a a LOT of inquisitive idiots. -- Despair.com |
