In a reef tank I use Instant Ocean salt.
Can I simply use different salt, like Oceanic, for a water change or something bad will happen? Can I generally mix and match salt brands in a single reef tank or this is not recomended ? |

Most can be mixed, but some (I don't know of any that do,
but know there are supposedly some that do)have artificial clarifiers that will cause problems when you mix brands. This topic was up for discussion several months ago, the general consensus
was there was although you can change salt from one brand to the next, the question was raised why would you want to. Personally I Use Instant Ocean, the only way I would change is if someone offered me a pallet for free of another brand. For the few cents you might save by switching or mixing, its not worth the headache of a possible problem. "Pszemol" wrote in message ... In a reef tank I use Instant Ocean salt.
