Default Can tank cycle without ammonia spike?

Buy some Amquel and squirt some in there....no more ammonia concerns.
If you cycling your Nitrites are going to get bad also. Add some
salt......1 tablespoon per 5 gallons. Once your levels are zero, forget
the salt and stop adding it. The Chloride prevent/interferes with
update of Nitrite into the fish through his gills. Change 1/2 the water
every other day until your cycled. 1ppm ammonia is enough to cycle with
live fish present. Regardless of the ammonia level...Amquel will
convert it to its non-toxic form of ammonium. Your filter bacteria and
plants still use it in this form.

This all assumes you have not taken other steps to address the same
concerns. It may take a while to fully cycle. Fishless cycling can
take up to 2 weeks. Fish cycling is slower.

Ok, maybe I'm just being impatient - but after my tank treatment,

ammonia
just isn't going back to zero. My 10% twice daily water changes are

keeping
it at pretty much a constant 1 PPM. I've tried introducing plants and
gravel from cycled tanks, and it's just not getting me very far.

Maybe I
just have to be patient, but I'm getting worried that the 1 PPM

ammonia is
not going to allow for enough bacteria growth for the tank to cycle

again.
Is there any validity to that concern?

Thanks in advance!
