![]() Given our latest restrictions in the US of 3 oz liquids in a quart bag, how does this work with live animals such as fish? I'm going to be in Vero Beach and I was thinking of dropping by a fish store I'm aware of. If I can bring a small dog/cat on a flight, it seems reasonable to bring a live fish. --Kurt |

Vendors normally ship their fish by way of next day air. Nothing
unusual. YOu wold be surprised what goes into baggage holds, dead people to pet dogs to fish to a tin of grandmas christmas cookies. ![]() TSA just replied (below). Hm, giving my difficulty of flying with a cork screw (it's now legal, but I routinely have to get the TSA manager to approve it), I wouldn't try this unless I had a backup plan. I can imagine myself holding a flopping fish while it's plastic bag of water goes through the X-Ray machine only to be flagged as over 3 oz. --Kurt ---------------TSA's note ------------------ Thank you for your e-mail concerning traveling with pets. Our security procedures do not prohibit you from bringing a pet on your flight. However, you should contact your airline or travel agent, before arriving at the airport to determine your airline's policy on traveling with pets. You will need to present the animal to the TSA Security Officers (TSO's) at the checkpoint. You may walk your animal through the metal detector with you. If this is not possible, your animal will have to undergo a secondary screening, including a visual and physical inspection by our Security Officers. Your animal will NEVER be placed through an X-ray machine. However, you may be asked to remove your animal from its carrier so that the carrier can be placed on the X-ray machine. We encourage you to visit our website at www.tsa.gov for additional information about TSA. The website has information about prohibited and permitted items, the screening process and procedures, and guidance for special considerations that may assist in preparing for air travel. You can find these tips and more at www.tsa.gov under the "Our Travelers" section. |

There is a real easy way to smuggle the fish through
securities, just put it inside your cat's stomach. They will never see it there :-) You should be able to bring fish back. The main thing is to get permission from them ahead of time.
