Default Phase 1 almost complete!

I won't be a smart ass about it. I'm seriously curious how the banana
wrasse work for you. I'm interested but read they aren't reef safe so I'm
want to hear from a few others.

G'luck,
B

Question!
Are you going to introduce them at the same time?
I hope you get your video camera ready and prepare yourself for some
astonishing gladiator fights...
I hope you liked the movie Gladiator because the two blennies are going to
give you a good show.

actually one has gone one colour and the other another.
the collector told me he thought they were a pair
Yea they chase each other a bit, but nothing viscous

Then the 26 damsels are going to define their territories soon.
Since the damselfish are also anemonefish, they will see the clowns as
fair competition.

wth?
the blue damsels are busy schooling
the reticulated are under the same rock
and the clowns are hanging out in almost a deadspot near a powerhead

Please tape the outcome, it will be interesting to see if they all can
live together in this aquarium.
I may be wrong but you are up for a great battle.
Keep us informed please. We can all learn a good deal about your
initiative.

sounds romantic!!
no I haven't taped it
still waiting on the lights to get good pics
but will snap some in a bit
I have kept marines for a while now
if theres one thing I know
it's damsels
:-)

Ok the banana is still staying a bit shy!!
They do seem to be quite reef friendly, BUT they are said to kill urchins
and shrimp/crabs
I now have 12 more marine tanks, most are 2 footers but they are all cycled
w000000t!!!
have me spotted cubes and soon a cuttle for da 4 footer!
only thing that never came was the purple anthias (male squamipinnis)
so I only got the 2 girls swimming around (hoping for a male in about a week
so fingers crossed it's soon enuf)
good news on the anthias is that they took protien aquaculture pellets
(barramundi) on the first feed about 5 hours after realise from bag.
the pellets were for the damsels but yea, made me very happy to see it
eating!
Is already a nice tank, will pull 10 of the blue damsels out when my chromis
come in
then it's time for a coral beauty I think, or maybe a foxface
early days still and at this point
all is well
but yea
early days!!
oh and I care about my fish, when theres a problem I WILL spend 2 hours
pulling rock out if I have too.
It's what I do.
so far so good

Sounds good to me, keep it up and please show us your pics as soon as you
get them. Is people like you that dare to make changes to the
conventionalities that I look forward to.
BTW, to what lighting system you are going?
Thanks!

I am talking with a guy about an aquaone metal haylide setup
basically a 5 foot bank of them
or maybe hang 3 seperate ones and 2 x double 4 foot fluros
I'm lucky to have beams over the tanks so should be easy to hang crazy stuff

If theres one thing I am hating it's that I have had to move the rock a few
too many times.
Had it stacked on base lava rock while it was curing/cycling
then removed that
then organised again
disturbed lots of cool stuff that had manage to elude the fish the whole
time.

I think the best thing has been all the weird eggs laid on the glass
really has been a weird geussing game

Is also very cool to see the fish slowly come out of hiding more
I'm sure once everyone really settles in I'll get my first damsel trouble
maker!
but hopefully the pack keeps them in line

star has to be the banana wrasse
such a lovely yellow
I mean it really is just a beautiful fish

Theres another nice little fish
we sell as spotted cube
a yellow box fish with black spots
more a 1 fish 1 tank sorta fish
but really is quite an awesome little fish
cracks me up

Just wanted to add here my aim is similar to the african cichlid technique
over stock and over rock
Damsels are much less of a problem in groups, they are almost peaceful if
you cram 100 in a tank with no ornaments to make territorys.
today they were much much prettier. Didn't like their flight much it seems.
Oh and Yes I have to do water changes
But really all I do is clean the powerhead sponges in buckets of water
give all 4 sets of sponges a clean out and thats 10 L of water
do it 4 times a week and thats 40L, 2 cannisters, prob clean sponges in them
once month (leave bio media alone)
a 20L bucket each but staggered by a few weeks
160 + 40=200L so atm with light stocking around1/3 waterchange a month on a
650L tank
and that is only squeezing out sponges!

Please tape the outcome, it will be interesting to see if they all can
