Default Corals,Color,Light...........

I have a rock with button polyps. When I bought the rock , 2 polyps were
bright neon green---the rest kind of a dull brownish green. One of the more
drab polyps is now morphing. It`s about half dull and half bright neon.
How does this happen? Can you alter the color of corals by placement
vis-a-vis light?
thanks again

I think the true colors are more prone to coming out once they have
proper lighting. I bought a bunch of shrooms and zoos from the bargain
basement tank at the lfs here for 1 or 2 bucks a critter.. The zoos
and shrooms were just dull dark muddy brown in color......but that was
ok, as I was looking for "ground" cover and to try an experiment with
corals ina tank with a fresh water puffer I re-acclimized to
sal****er. I just wanted to see if I could keep any soft type corals
in the tank with this puffer......I did not have the puffers tank
setup yet, so I just tossed them into another tank.Yu canimagine how
pleased and happy I was when in about 2 days those muddy brown shrroms
were Birck red and also other neat colors.not a darn muddy brown
shroom in the bunch. Same for the zoo's....they started to change to
oranages and even some boues here and there......as well as
greens......Needless to say I went back anbd bought a big heap of more
shrooms and zoos, and they are all doing great under proper light,
totaly different in color that what they were in the LFS...... I can
see a coral getting duller or brigher or perhaps goping to a dull
brown if it lacks formproper lights, but other than the brown color I
just believe they are not capable of say, going from a Orange or Green
color to a blue etc......I say they can go from their "true" color
down to a brown, but not to another spectrum.......and the brown is
only due to stress and lack of sufficiein tlight to enable it to show
its true colors. Too much light on the hothe rhand can bleach a
vibrant color to a lighter shade or even white.......

Oh, not much color other than Ghetto SSI crazy check mister Roy "TRistan"
Hauer" aka Roy
~ Roy aka ~ ROY~ just **** on lots of folks in rec.ponds and aquaria groups
and drug dirty
laundry in here and refused to leave so all those he crapped on just
followed him to this place and stayed.....Guess thats what happens
when you allow a secition 8 type person schizo move into the neighbor hood,
it does not take long for the hood to come down to that section 8's
level, with all the companay he drags here it amounts to a Ghetto the
way he has this and other groups trashed. Typical section eight
behavior from a someone on SSI crazy checks.......
