Do not respond to trolls - just block them out

Every newsreader has "block the poster" function.
Use it to block the troll and remove his posts
from your newsgroup instead of discussing with them.

People using this group for years (like me) filter
trolls regularly to weed them out. If you reply
to trolls you give them what they want: attention.

If you use "block sender" each time he changes
the person he pretends to be the group will be
clean and trolls stop being the problem.
I do not see troll after initial message he posted.

Responding to trolls you fuel their behaviour.
Try to resist temptation to react :-)
Ignore them like there were not here.

in my reader. Each of his new incarnation, too.
I do not even signal this event with the "plonk" msg.

posted to more news groups than just rec.aquaria.marine.reefs. Legit
posts posted for this group are not crossposted.

That way, one can see whatever usefull stuff Tristan may post here, and

Well, I guess thanks for that (even though you won't see this Pszemol as
I'm in your killfile)....As I'm setting up a new tank in a few weeks
time I have a bit of a vested interest in people being around to share
my experiences and help with my newbie questions (and I don't like the
format of forums)

One thing that might be necessary to understand, certainly in the case
of me and Tristan, is that we have seen soooo many of our newsgroups go
down to this troll (ponds and freshwater groups) so yes, it might appear
to those that haven't shared this experience that we are over-reacting
when put in context it is to a certain degree understandable AND 2 1/2
years of putting up with it pushes even the most patient....and yes, we
should know better than to respond or join in.....I guess we are just
over zealous in our determination that this group doesn't follow the
others....We could see exactly what was being done.....and got very
frustrated that the troll seemed to be winning.....I can't answer for
The Rock as I don't know him very well......I have a sneaking suspicion
that I might have seen him on the freshwater groups which, if true,
might explain his reactions.

Anyway, I'm not going to post for a while on this group, as I'm pretty
sure that the troll will respond and carry on its vendetta if my name is
seen - especially as in just by replying to this I am acting as troll
bait....so, sorry for that.....

Just one other point....as the RFD and creation process for a new
moderated rec.ponds progresses (and hopefully comes to fruition) I am
worried that the troll activity will increase - especially targetted at
me as I am one of the proposed moderators....I hope that you can all
bear with these attacks and not give the troll the attention that it
craves....Another reason why I am going to go quiet on this group.....

Thanks for all the help that all members of the group have given to me
in my little Nano venture....I hope that there will be a troll free
group when I get my 350L tank in the next few weeks....

Its not really me that the problem lies Add homonym.......y'all talk
kill filters for me, its CArol Gulley and her million sock army that
trashed this place.I only added verbal discriptions of what was going
on as I have seen it all before more than once......I do not possess
any magic or super powers that enable me to see what the troll Carol
Gulley is doing. I just know her from her habits what is next and
what happens.....It also hepls to have a good fast server that keeps
up with posts as the are made instead of slow servers, and no
MOtzarella certainly is not may major server, and neither is shared
secrets and the others Carols prime news server.....Read it on one
post it on another....Block away, all you want, filters are defeatable
with very little trounble contrary to what old Genius Pszemol would
like to have you think.......But then y'alal don;t nbeed any help as a
"fix" was offered to Wayne that would effectively stopped this troll
but he decided he did not want to belong to any group as long as Gill
was involved..Now tell me what the hell did Gill have to do with this
or the price of Tea in china........Wayne was afraid his little world
was going to be sucked out from under his dominance and he would not
be center stage.........but his gamble failed........and differ all
