Well we do have the case of Koivorkian who has never been disingenuous about wanting
to make money. Vets do not NEED special training to declare themselves "specialists". Until a person actually knows otherwise it is wise to assume that a vet became a vet because they can make a good living at it rather than any other kind of altruistic reasons. OTOH, Jo Ann knows Sandy Yosha and has spoken highly of her. And she may well have made it her business to find out as much as possible about Koi nutrition. At least she isnt like that guy wrote for the national koi club was plagiarizing all over the place, not giving citations and was actually a producer of koi food..... somewhere in S. Africa I believe. People who arent scientists (and even some scientists) often dont know how to steer themselves clear of bias by staying out of financial arrangements with those that are clearly going to bias them. BTW, vets and physicians arent scientists. That is a completely different 5 year program where taking "science classes" has less to do with it, becoming a scientist is all about developing critical thinking and how to ask salient questions.
