Default NO POWER! HELP!

Yeah, was definately interesting, we got power back at 3am, so wasn't that
bad, only 11 hours. Changed 10% of the water twice, and opened the lids,
scooped water into the filters every now and then to keep that water fresh.
I disconnected the fluval, but when the power came back on, I woke up,
stirred up the canister, opened it and sniffed it, smelled like normal
skanky filter, no sulpher, so fired it back up with no probs. Overall, went
over quite well. Don't know what I would have done if the power would have
stayed out until Monday like they were predicting.

We definately were not prepared, had enough candles for one night, batteries
for maybe two nights for the flash lights, but food, everything we had was
perishable.

Default NO POWER! HELP!

We here in the south keep hurricane kits in the event of one of them
storms knocking out our power for a week or so. With the power grid
thing up there it may be a good idea for ya to stock up on bottled water
(pumps work on electricity unless gravity fed) 1g per person per day,
extra batteries, candles, non perishable foods that don't need heating
up, portable radio, and a months worth of meds. As an avid camper I
have a portable propane stove which may not be a bad idea for folks to
get if you use electric stoves. Then at least you could have a hot
meal.

Vicki

In case this happens this winter a sleeping bag may be a good thing to
keep warm.
