That's unusual, but even so, they would decrease
down to normal numbers after the algae was gone. Wayne Sallee Wayne's Pets August West wrote on 4/25/2007 6:35 AM: I'm not exagerrating when I say I remove a hundred a week. I would not worry about them. You are not likely to have a problem with an overpopulation of snails in a reef tank. It had been donated to them by someone who dismantled their tank prior to a move. Now a few months later, I am having a snail problem. I remove about a hundred tiny little snails a week, but can't seem to get them under control. I don't suppose there is a fish that would eat these guys but would leave my "regular" snails alone? Any advice on getting them under control? They look a little like mexican turbo snails if I let them get big enough, but they are a mottled brown color. Thanks.... |

That makes sense, thanks. The explosion just freaked me out.

I am not exaggerating when I say I deleted a hundred a week. If I do not have the grace remove them, I will be at least 1,500 snails in the 80 gallon tank now. No kidding. I've never seen so. This is unusual, but even so, they will reduce figure dropped to normal after the algae disappears.
