Default snails?

That makes sense, thanks. The explosion just freaked me out.

That's unusual, but even so, they would decrease down to normal numbers
after the algae was gone.

I'm not exagerrating when I say I remove a hundred a week. If I had not
benn removing them I would have at least 1500 snails in an 80 gallon tank
by now. No kidding. I've never seen such before.

I would not worry about them. You are not likely to have a problem with
an overpopulation of snails in a reef tank.

Hi all, I added some live rock to my tank. It was the most algae
covered rock at the LFS and it was in the "rubble" tank. It had been
donated to them by someone who dismantled their tank prior to a move.

Now a few months later, I am having a snail problem. I remove about a
hundred tiny little snails a week, but can't seem to get them under
control. I don't suppose there is a fish that would eat these guys but
would leave my "regular" snails alone?

Any advice on getting them under control?

They look a little like mexican turbo snails if I let them get big
enough, but they are a mottled brown color.

Thanks....

I am not exaggerating when I say I deleted a hundred a week. If I do not have the grace remove them, I will be at least 1,500 snails in the 80 gallon tank now. No kidding. I've never seen so. This is unusual, but even so, they will reduce figure dropped to normal after the algae disappears.
