There was a PetLand that used to get the not so common fin variations
from a breeder, as well as what the wholesaler had.
This was a time yrs back when you *never* saw these fin types in
shops. You could only find the spindly, skinny, mass bred junk.

- - But there's always that "certain one" among the mass produced that
appeals. :-) They go right in my cart.

This particular PetLand had crowns that would knock your socks off, as
well as high quality Deltas.
They were also trying to get Halfmoons, but never did. The prices were
about the same as your 12.99 Delta.
Now a days you can sometimes find the nicer types tossed in a shipment
of regs at many stores.
I've seen a few nice Deltas in PetCo shipments, as well as being a not
so often seen color pattern, but only in the females. Never Delta
males.

- - You can buy both males and females here! Some of them were truly
beautiful nicely colored fish. If I were interested in breeding them I'd
find some nice fish to start with.

.......... That is of course if you haven't been
targeted by a certain Betta.....and he or she is coming home with you
no matter what you have to say about it.
Those types are called shady tricksters. You have to beware of them at
all times. You cannot deny them.
Resistance is futile.

- - Tell me about it! :-))

If you find that you have been the victim of one of these, may I
suggest frozen bloodworms to keep them happy at all times.
Freeze dried will not do at all, as they would take it as an insult to
them.
= )~

- - That reminds me, I've got to pick up frozen bloodworms next week when I
go back to Pet Supermarket for a replacement cory. Right now I have the
variety pack and that's real low also.

I was actually escorted off Wal MArt property in town, and told that
if I returned I wuol dbe arrested for tresspassing. Localcops
actuaslly came and read me the riiot act, manager filed a complaint on
me and I was told to vacate the premisis.all due to their inept fish
keeping ability. I really raised holy hell with them. I even took pics
(so I told them) and that really got them in an uproar. I sent info to
PETA and mailed Wally World almost daily. I used to send my wife or
youngin inside to get more needed evidence............and from time to
time I would make a quick run through myself ;p) That store and one
more here no longer sells fish of any kind. I even turned them in for
the live lobsters conditions............They soon quit handling live
lobsters. I made out ok though as I eventually obtained the entire
tank setup that was in the one store, when by default the person that
originally happend to get it fell down and could not pick it up, I
managed to acquire it, as well as a temp[erature controlled live
lobster tank.all free for the picking up and hauling away. That is the
2nd set of tanks I have aquired, as I got an entire setup from a Petco
previously...........I have since sold the petco setup but still have
the Wal mart setup going strong. I use them for over winter housing of
my tropicals once I take em out of the preforms outside.

- - I always spoke nicely to the manages but any changes were always
temporary. More than one manager told me their biggest problem is employees
lack of interest and knowledge of the fish they are assigned to care for.
They don't have knowledgeable people applying for the job. I suggest the
store pay a living wage and give people health benefits and perhaps they'd
find knowledgeable people and be able to keep them.

- - Yes, I remember when you got those tanks. You really lucked out.
