I finally got the second 55g tank set up, planted and added a few platys. I
haven't yet decided what else is going in there to join them other than a few small algae eaters. -- RM.... Zone 6. Middle TN USA ~~~~ }((((* ~~~ }{{{{(ö |

They eat most any food fed tothem, and if the time ever comes and you need to get rid of them, its not a problem to put em in a farm pond.........Check around you would be surprised what native fishes do well if not over populated ina tank..my favorite native is still the warmouth and I am sure you have them in Tenn as well...just get a fisherman to get you one or two.awesome neat fish .......... |

I was thinking small tropical fish like in the other 55g. With being busy with the holidays I'm in no hurry. :-) We have a new PetsMart opening soon. I may wait and see what they have. -- RM.... Right now I have the 4 platys from the other tank in it along with plants that needed thinning and a few large decorative lava rocks. Now that I'm using rain water to dilute our liquid rocks I have a larger base of fish to choose from. I did lose the last cory. I started with 4 in the other tank but they never did well and I'm not sure why. Could the clown loaches have out competed them for food that hit the bottom? My water is now at PH 7.4 - down from 8.2+. -- RM.... Zone 6. Middle TN USA ~~~~ }((((* ~~~ }{{{{(ö |

I haven't had them in ages. I'd like some marbles but haven't seen them in several years. I don't like the balloon mollies. Swords can get too darn aggressive and they're jumpers. =:-O You remember me, I'm the one who only likes and wants non-aggressive fish. :-)) Many small danios or cherry barbs can also compliment these fish. I also have kept Gouramis such as dwarf gouramis with these fish in similar sized tanks with good success. I've had no luck with dwarf and honey gouramies in the past. :*( They never last more than a few months. The pearls and common gold and blues live for years. I may just keep tank #2 a livebearer tank. I do want to add a blue female gourami to my other 55g tank. The fish are thriving like crazy now that I'm diluting my liquid rock water with rain water caught off the greenhouse and outbuilding roofs. -- RM.... Zone 6. Middle TN USA ~~~~ }((((* ~~~ }{{{{(ö |
