Maybe some other livebearers such as Mollies, Swords, endlers
livebearers. These would do well with Platties.

Yes, I though of some deep velvety black mollies. I haven't had them in
ages. I'd like some marbles but haven't seen them in several years. I
don't like the balloon mollies. Swords can get too darn aggressive and
they're jumpers. =:-O You remember me, I'm the one who only likes and
wants non-aggressive fish. :-))

Many small danios or cherry barbs can also compliment these fish. I
also have kept Gouramis such as dwarf gouramis with these fish in
similar sized tanks with good success.

I've had no luck with dwarf and honey gouramies in the past. :*( They
never last more than a few months. The pearls and common gold and blues live
for years. I may just keep tank #2 a livebearer tank. I do want to add a
blue female gourami to my other 55g tank. The fish are thriving like crazy
now that I'm diluting my liquid rock water with rain water caught off the
greenhouse and outbuilding roofs.
