I just wanted to warn anyone that buys fish mail order *"SOMETHINGSPHISHY"
and my experience. *I spent $200 on my order for 4 fish.. (1)blue phantom
pleco...it had severe fin damage........(1) long tailed blue
ram....bloodshot
eyes(1) showcase red Cherry flowerhorn....doesn't look anything like the
photo...no bump on the head(1) EB jack dempsey...which arrived with a
collapsed eye and the other swollen and red, which subsequently died 3
days
later.......I immediately wrote this company and was told dont worry they
will all be fine in a week or so, if they arent let me know.

This is a classic example why I refuse to buy fish or plants online
sight-unseen. They can send you anything. *Report them to the BBB in their
state.

One time I ordered aquarium plans online and got nothing like I ordered and
most were rotting and near dead, if not dead. When I called them to tell
them, a small child ran up my phone bill as I tried to get him or her to put
their mommie or daddy on the phone. *The child just chatted on and on. What
a horrible way to run a business. *They send me a second order with the
wrong plants again. At least a few were alive. That was the one and only
time I dealt with buying plants online. *Too many rip-off artists on the
net. Too many horror stories.

If fokls would do their homework and beuy from a reputable place like
Premium Aquatics / Drs Foster and Smith etc, there is no risk at all
involved, and they truly have a hassle free warranty and replacement
policy..............on everything. I ordered over $450 worth of marine
fish and critters.Yes I had some die, or that did not look
good.........and there is no reason in the world that I would think
they packed them like that to begin with, it just was something that
happened. I called them up and they made note of it, and stated that
they would not do any further rectifying of my purchase until the end
of my 14 day life period was up, just incase others
died.............ONce the 14 days were up I got a phone call from them
tekling me what my options were.....Credit mycredit card back for the
price.............issue me a store credit, or send replacement fish
etc at no additional costs for shipping to me............I asked to
have replacements sent..whicih they did, and I got perfectly fine fish
except for one, whjich they issued my credit card a credit back on. No
dead bodies to return, no hassles etc, just friendly and helpfull
sales associates. Reputable places are not gonna rip you off over a
$5.00 pl;ant or a $2 fish or a $100 fish..but yu gotta do yur homework
and not be naieve and just buy where you see low
prices.................I can honestly say I have spent a heap of money
online buying not only livestock like fish and corals and plants but
lots of other items from A to Z and I have yet to ever get screwed
even inthe slightest..............but I do my homework first, before
any credit card transactions take place....even for a $5 item I check
em out.

I wasn't online very long when that happened. As I recall someone from this
NG or the plant group recommended the place. Apparently it was a young
couple with a back-yard business. But I got the impression they were having
difficulty keeping the plants alive and healthy until sold. They were
shipping them in from Fla. growers.

One plant I ordered was riccia for example. I was $5 for a "handful." This
was 10 years ago at least. Not cheap. I received terrestrial lichen complete
with pine needles and a few tiny twigs. I was really ticked off and felt
ripped off. The water sprite was rotting and about dead. :-(

I do business with F&Smith but never bought plants from them.

Your right, there are just way too many "backyard" pretend business
out there to deal with who certainly cann ot give the proper care or
detail to their accounts. Just like our spam buddy Carls, who is
peddling a heap of aquatic crap made in china that is of the same
catagory and grade of JEBO products out of the truck of his car or his
utility shed and calling himself a business................. Buy from
a bona fide reputable dealer like Foster & Smith and donpt give
satisfaction a second thought as they will take care of the customer
even if customer is wrong.............to themthe customer always is
right..

F & S plants are just fine, as are a couple of other places I buy from
online in regards to aquarium plants.......I do not buy my corals
(most of them abyhow) online unless they show a good pic and scale
reference of that coral, as descriptions of corals can be quite
different to different folks but thats neither here or there since
were talking fish and FW stuff here..........http://
freshwateraquariumplants.com is yet another good place to order
plants from online......
