Just keep a close eye on the ammonia and nitrite levels. -- RM.... ~~~~ }((((* ~~~ }{{{{(ö |

I usually cycle my 10 gallons with 3 zebra danios. Great fish for cycling, they're extremely hardy in my experience. -I |

![]() "Tynk" wrote in message ... No fish is "great" for cycling. The process can not only cause the death of some fish, damage is done to the gill tissue. Scars form on delicate gill tissue from ammonia burns. There are some bacteria starters that actually do work. They contain nitrospira bacteria - not just nitrobactor like most. BioSpira is one of them. Products such as Stress Zyme, Cycle, Bio Zyme, etc do not work. They contain the wrong stage bacteria. Just because a fish doesn't die from cycling a tank with it, doesn't mean they're fine. If you want to use a cheap, but good method of cycling, use plain ammonia. (no perfumes or dyes). Google fishless cycling. You'll see how to cycle a tank without harming fish in the process. As for peeing in the tank. Yes, some folks will use their pee. I happen to think that's nasty and will use store bought ammonia before ever using pee. ============================================== Where I live we can't even find ammonia without some kind of additives. Do you know what chain pet shops carry BioSpira? If you mention some names there may be a store near people reading this and who are interested in knowing. I don't like ordering stuff like that online because the S&H charges are often as expensive as the item bought. -- RM.... ~~~~ }((((* ~~~ }{{{{(ö |

If not, then ask if they could stock it. -- Roy Smith http://roysmith1959.spaces.live.com/ Ubuntu 8.10 - Intrepid Ibex |
