I know the feeling! Harsh but true.
The tank just has to cycle and finish before any more 'toys' are added. Especially since these 'toys' are living beings. The pleco is wrong for the tank. I do not have one even in my 70G tank (did at one time, found it a good home luckily enough). A dwarf catfish would work but no more than that and only once the tank is done cycling. Due to the damage he has done, that may require a complete cleanout of the tank of all the chemicals and drugs. Neil, you almost need to start over. Do not get any more fish. Take the pleco back to the store. Swap out 50% of your water and most of the gravel, then let the tank natually cycle. It will turn milky-cloud white for about a week. Thats normal. Do not use chemicals to clear the water at that stage. Just let it ride. You will end up with a crystal clean tank that is self maintaning almost, if you do not overload it. |

Hi all,
My tank is still cycling and all I have left include: 2 Guppies (male & female) 1 baby guppy 1 Pleco 1 Male Platy (questionable future) 1 Female Dwarf Gourami (questionable future) 1 Zebra Daneo (questionable future) Keeping in mind that I have a 25 gallon tank (accoriding to the measurements of the tank. Officially, the tank is 23 gallons), I was wondering if you all could recommend some fish to fill it with. I was hoping to get some cichlidaes for the tank, but my reading indicates that most will probably gobble up the survivers of the last stocking fiasco, and with the whole territory business, it could create a lot of complications. I'd really like to get some bigger, more interesting fish. Any recommendations? I know there is some controversy about this - do Parrot Fish fit in the scheme of things? Are they freshwater or marine? Regards, Neil |

Regards, Neil you're doing yourself and your fish a terrible disservice by even considering this the pleco by itself is far too big for a 25 gallon tank, and will outgrow it rapidly you obviously don't listen or read anything before coming on here and asking your questions.. you just got over a major epidemic in your tank and numerous fish died... now it's not even done cycling, you haven't cleared out the disease yet, it's overstocked, and you're asking how many BIGGER MORE INTERESTING FISH you can get? hey i have an idea.. go work at petsmart, they hire people like you in a heartbeat. |

get a bigger tank like a 75 gallon tank for cichlids and even then do ALOT
of RESEARCH on each fish to see if you can offer EVERYTHING the particular fish needs to live a long happy life. "NSP" wrote in message om... Just had to put in my $ 0.02 worth regards Art |

I agreee that he has made a huge error in setting up his tank and that
he shouldn't get any more fish for the time being. I don't agree on the (lack) of advice he's getting. He's here because he's realized that he made a mistake. The reason this forum is here is for people like him who jumped into a tank with both feet and are now sinking fast. Rather than tell him how he made a huge mistake, shouldn't we be giving advice on how to correct the problem? As for my advice, I could give it but seeing as I'm a novice (only about 8 months experience on 4 tanks), I will let the veterans help him out. Sarah "0rion" wrote in message ... You know, I can appreciate that I may not know all there is to know
about fish. And yes, I have read all that has been posted in this group and sites like fishprofiles.com and thekrib.com, etc. However, I see no cause to put me down. It's a shame that fish can't talk, as I'm sure if they could, they would teach some unnamed aquarium veterans on some simple people skills. I guess that's the problem when a hobby is taken too far. That said, I don't recall stating that I was planning a big trip to the pet shop this weekend with plans to fill my tank up. I posted the message so I can plan for the future and get some ideas - as my current tank survivors will determine species compatibility. Regards, Neil |
