Default Water evaporation

Just remember also that the more evaporation your tank has the more
important the water changes are....

If you just keep topping up you are concentrating the dissolved minerals,
calcium etc......as it is only "pure" water that evaporates.

you could get an early case of Old Tank Syndrome if you don't keep up the
water changes...

Can you please tell me your experience with water evaporation? I case of

a
tropical aquarium of size 1.7 x .6 x .7 m large, corresponding to

about
700 liters volume there is evaporation of about 6 liters dayly.
Is there a means how to minimize the amount of water evaporating into the
athmosphere in the room and causing fungus at the corners of the wall

except
lowering the temperature?
Is ist possible to condensate the water vapor dirictly above the survace

by
any means?
Can there be an artificial airflow stream with suction of dry air and an
outlet to outside the building?
Or instead, does there exist a dryer in the outlet?
Please tell your experience.
Thanks in advance!

I have 5 tanks: 75, 29 and three 10 gallons. All have light hoods and
glass covers. Evaporation varies even though the 10 gallon tanks
appear to be the same and have identical light hoods and are almost
totally covered except for open slot at the rear for power filter,
heater and air hose.

Several factors are involved. The 29 gallon tank has the least
evaporation. The top of the tank is fully covered, the filter pump
and heater are under the closed top.

I have one of my 10 gallon tanks that has the most evaporation, but is
followed closely by another. The third 10 gallon has almost no
evaporation. These 3 tell important stories. The tank with almost no
evaporation has no air bubbler and is in no air draft. The other two
have air bubblers and both are in high air flow from air conditioner.
I have to add water every other day in the two.

I conclude that the air bubblers are increasing the humidity in turn
the drafts are moving the humid air away from the tank thus the high
evaporation.

Not much to tell about the 75 gallon. I change 20% water weekly and
never add water in between. It has an air bubbler, but is not in an
air draft.

So, keep top well covered, especially if using an air bubbler. Keep
the air stone volume down. Keep adding water! g
