Default Difference between Aquarium Pharma. Marine and Freshwater Master Test Kits

I'm just starting out in Freshwater tanks, and I'm thinking of getting one
of those Master test kits from Aquarium Pharmaceuticals. The "Freshwater
Master Kit" has some tests that I already have or don't need, plus it looks
like it uses the Nessler method to test for Ammonia (since it uses only one
reagent for Ammonia). However, the "Marine Master Kit" has exactly what I'm
looking for, no unneeded tests, and the Salicylate Ammonia test (two
reagents). Would someone know if I could use the "Marine" kit for a
freshwater tank? The products contained in it, when bought individually
don't seem to make any distinction on what type of tank it should be used
on. Are these actually different tests or is it simply a matter of
packaging?

Thanks,
Harry

I have both the Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Salicylate ammonia test and nitrate
test. I bought both of these as individual tests. For each of these tests,
two color comparison cards are included, one for sal****er and one for
freshwater. I doubt the sal****er master kit has the freshwater comparison
cards for these tests.

I have the freshwater master kit and the above two individual tests. I
found the GH and KH tests in the freshwater master kit to be useful. I
realized the KH of my tap water is very low so I monitor my PH closely.
Buying all three of these is still only around 25 USD.

HTH,
Jim

Most marine test kits measure high range PH. So it is according to what
your keeping in your fresh. If your keeping stuff that has to have a
lower range your out of luck with the PH part working. Just something
to think about.
