Default ph- hard vs soft water?

General hardness is correct for my reference. Testing 75-125 ppm using
Jungle Quick Dip 5 test kit.

I read that in hard water, ph of 7.2 is same as ph of 8.2 in soft water.

Is
that correct?

Hard water and a Ph of 7.2 implies there would be a lot of CO2 in the

water.
Soft water and a Ph of 8.2 would imply fairly low levels of CO2 so no they
are not really the same at all (!)

Of course it depends on whether you are talking about Carbonate Hardness -
dKh (which the above assumes) or General Hardness dGh......

Either way, I am oyut of my depth on the chemistry front here - but I

can't
see any way you would say that the properties of the two samples you have
suggested would be close to one another.

I.

No........and it makes no sense unless related to a situation like how
much Fluke tabs to use.......or its affect on something specific.....

These two waters cannot be the SAME water because the pH is 10 times more
alkaline in the 8.2 sample. What is the SAME in the reading you quote?
