Hi, I have a new oscar, about 5-6 inches, and though he eats live food, I
can't get him to take prepared food from the surface. Does he not know what it is? Thanks for th help! |

Well, he finally started to eat! You guys were all right, he was just
getting used to things. When he does eat, he blows almost all of it out his gills. I've read that this is normal, but I was wondering how they end up with any of it in their stomach? My Oscars did the same thing, obviously got enough food because they jumped
in size, growiing up to 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch in little more than a week... If you have the room you might want to try an breed some feeder guppies for your Oscar, I found when my looked depressed guppies always seemed to perk them up... Especially the larger fellow, little guppies ( 1 inch juvi's ) were a challenge for him as they were small a fairly fast and hide well... A little excercise for the big fellow and a chance to use his sharp vision for food... Tim..
