Default Bait minnows as feeder fish???

Just wondering if it would be potentially bad to feed bait minnows
(i.e. crappies, fat heads) as feeder fish to a oscar that is too big
for rosey reds but too small for comets. Also, how about the worms at
bait shops? A heck of a lot cheaper than at the petstore. I have a
strong suspicion that this may be bad (disease), any thoughts? Anyone
tried this?

BTW, I only feed live feeders as a "treat" once a week.

A friend of mine feeds minnows to his oscars and severums and the love them.
The minnows are taken from tidal waters and not fresh though. From my
understanding freshwater minnows have a higher likelihood of having
parasites, etc.

i've fed my oscars several times over the years nightcrawlers. pretty
cheap, they only last 15 days at one/day/fish, after that they're too
weak/dying. i think it's just like feeding feeders, so you gotta mix
it up. i like the dried krill at wal mart very cheap, and comes in
(oscar) mouth sized pieces.

There is no difference between bait shop worms and those at a fish store.
Usually the same supplier provides both. As far as minnows, a friend has
been feeding his snakeheads minnows for 5 years now. No problems.

Those must be some big nasty snakeheads by now?
