Mine would breed in a 20 gallon community tank, but very few young survived.
I would say 15 gallons would do if you removed the fry once they were big
enough.

I breed kribs in a 20 gallon long. Just the pair of Kribensis in their with
a single pleco. The pleco gives them something to focus on to help keep the
pair bond strong. I remove the young when the parents start chase them a
bit. The tank is planted with rocks and drift wood. A pH of around 7.0
should give you a good balance between males and females. Although Kribs
will breed in a higher pH, the male to female ratio tends to lean more
towards males the higher you go on the scale.

then you must have something else going on in your tank. I breed my pair in
a 20 g tank all the time. I just recently sold off the last of about 120 fry
and the parents have another group of fry with them now. Kribs are normally
excellent parents however I did have a male that I had to remove as he was
eating the fry. With this group the male is banished and hides under a log
all day while the female swims around with her babies.

It was along while ago and as I said it was a community tank, there were
other fish in the tank who slowly picked off the fry. I line bread them and
ended up with one of the best looking male kribs. I have ever seen. The
colours on him were magnificent especially the golds and magenta, and the
spots ran from near the front of his dorsal fin to the tip of his tail. I
don't think I have seen one to match his colour or size since. Unfortunately
I don't have any in my tanks at the moment but they are one of my favourite
fish.

yes you can develop a very nicely colored male and female Krib. I picked the
nicest male and female from my last spawn and am growing them out to breed.
They are very nice and should produce even better fry.

mine bred in a 29G tank that only had a 2' x 1' footprint
they fended off the other fish fairly well although they were only mollies.

Well, I've managed to breed successfuly the Krib several times in a
aprox. 15 gal tank with lots of plants and caves.
