My mom, who is a fantastic and fanactical gardner, once told me, "don't give
up on a plant unless you have killed it three times". I think the same applies to fish keeping. I was in the same boat as you are now, but it took more than 3 dead fish before my frustration and pride forced me to do a lot of research and I still consider myself a novice. Some of the stuff I read sounded like outrageous "fish snobbery", but are the real deal if you want to keep fish that live and thrive. The one thing that sounded the most outrageous, was the 10gallons per goldfish rule. If you want two fish, get a 20g tank (preferably the longer 20g tank). If you want three, get a 29g+ tank. Even then you'll probably have to get a bigger tank as the fish grow. |
