is actually a sonic boom. Much as is the "crack" of a whip or airplane
breaking the sound barrier. Except the shrimp isn't moving that fast but

tiny bubbles that air created as it "snaps" shut it's claw are. Test have
been conducted by researchers at Hubbs/SeaWorld reseach Inst. that measure
the sound pressure these guys could create at being over 140 dB @ 2.5 cm.
dB wise that's loud enough to cause damage to tissue. Hence what they use
their talent for. To stun prey.
