I'm new to ponds and I'm trying to set one up.
I got a pump that specifies that it takes 1" hose. This will feed a filterfalls waterfall that specifies that it has a 1 1/2" bulkhead. The manuals provided really don't help in how to best hook up hoses to them. Should I just get hose clamps from the plumbing section of Lowe's? Also I looked around a bit on some pond sites for adapters but I don't see anything for fitting a 1" hose into a 1 1/2" bulkhead. What would you recommend? Sorry if these seem like really dumb questions... I'm new to plumbing as well as ponds! ![]() |

The only "really dumb questions"
are the ones you don't ask. Welcome to the adventure! You've come to the right place. As John says, Lowes and also Home Depot folks know their stuff pretty well and you'll pay less than at a pond or aquarium supply store. I went to Home Depot with a piece of 4'' PVC and my 1'' pump output and said to the guy, "I need to connect this to this. Help." He did. BV. |

Should I just get hose clamps from the plumbing section of Lowe's? WARNING - Those metal hose clamps with a screw that tightens the clamp will rust - I know this from experience. Do not let these clamps touch your pond water. A better solution would be to adapt the pump's 1" hose connection to accept PVC pipe. You can also look for metal hose clamps that are stainless steel with a stainless steel screw. They're a few cents (dollar) more, but worth it. -- Kathy B |
