Default Algae in the tank

I'd stay away from algae clear products as these merely treat a symptom.
You want to get to the underlying cause which is either too much light or
much free nutrients.

The things to try, individually or together a
1. Shorten the time the tank light is on.
2. Feed less (or feed the same amount in more, smaller meals)
3. Do regular water changes (they can be smaller than 25%,
but should be at least weekly).

Finally, you could try putting some sturdy/unpalatable plants
in to compete with the algae.

Good luck!

We seem to have algae suddenly growing like there is no tomorrow in our
goldfish tank. Am I doing something wrong? I clean the glass regularly

and
just completed a 25% water change. There is much algae on the plants
(plastic) and tank decorations, which I recently cleaned. I do have a

snail
(ramshorn) but it does not seem to be able to keep up with the growth.

The tank is not near a window, I have the light on during the day. Should

I
shorten the length of time the light is on? I do not seem to have this
problem in our tropical fish tank and it gets much more light than the

gold
fish tank. Should I add an 'algae clear' product on a regular basis to

the
water?

Thanks for any advice.
D~
