A few tank photos

I really that tank set up. The wood looks great. And the tank will too -
just give it time!

LOL.. you DO have my fish. That looks really good so far. I love that
stand.. wish I had room for one like that. My tank is here in my workroom
though and between the computer desks and the drafting table and a huge
double desk and book case unit built into one entire wall, a stand like that
would take up most of the room I have left, lol.

Yes Mark, the lobophytum = devils finger or devils hand. This thing is gorgeous when
it's open. I was so relieved when it started to open again after a week of being
closed. Great piece.

I feed the tang when I think of it. I tried nori when he (she?) was in the Q tank,
but he had no interest then. I haven't attempted the nori in the reef yet. Usually I
put in a pinch of spirulina when I get home from work at about 6 ish, and then feed
more spirulina mixed with brine shrimp at 10 or 10:30. I see him nibbling on the
algae occasionally during the evening. Lights cycle off gradually at 11:00 PM, with
the actinics going off at midnight.

The stand was built by a guy I know from work. He is one of the locksmiths there,
but in his spare time he's a cabinet maker. He makes some really beautiful stuff.
His first proposal for my cabinets was about $3700. When I pretty much choked on the
price, he reworked the design, and came down to about half that. I can only imagine
the detail work that would have been on them if he'd made his original design.
Any-who, that's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

If you'll clip a piece of nori on the glass, folded up a half dozen times to make it
very small and "less scary", I bet you'll start to see results.

I had to take care of a reef tank for a club member while he was out of town for a
week. He's rabbit fish, a herbivore, had no interest in nori at all until I did this.
I stopped by a little early when the lights weren't on, and clipped in a piece and
left. I came back about 6 or 8 hours later to turn off his RO/DI unit, and the rabbit
fish was tearing away at the stuff.

The best part about that stuff is you can put it in your tank early in the day, and it
will be consumed as needed all day long. As the fish tear into it (literally), bits
float away and other fish eat it that might normally not.

It really is beautiful woodwork, and I'm still choking on the price, even at 50%. grin
