Default About that e-mail allegedly from Microsoft

For what it is worth (and to me, a lot), I wrote an e-mail to my server and
asked if there was some way they could put a stop to that particular type of
e-mail. I was getting dozens of them every day.

So, today I had only one and no spam at all. Can't believe it.

Hope this helps someone else.

It stopped because the hackers became tired or bored.

My rotten emails are still coming in. They are stopped by
Earthlink's spamblocker... course I have it set so high that
nothing gets thru. I go thru the list twice daily.... canceling
and/or forwarding to my inbox! I'll be glad when there is No
List at all - then I can go back to my usual setting.

not even close as its a self replicating virus.

it only stops when the infected person cleans the virus.

the only way an ISP can stop it is to filter/delete
all emails between 140-160 kb as the sender and subject
changes ea. time.

So why did mine stop? I am not complaining, but I was unable to clear
it myself and my ISP said that they could or would not do it.

Ken, who's the "infected" person? I've run my (automatically) updated virus
program 3 times and still get the "updates" and notifications that mail I
supposedly sent is being returned. Nedra and I are in the same class: I have
to check the server to "clear" stuff several times a day, and that's the
pits because this is a "business" machine.

Ken,

Does the "infected person" include anyone who is getting the
emails now?
IOWs, should I refrain from answering any and
all personal emails?

as long as you delete and dont click on the file
your safe, all of these viruses require you to
click on them.

infected means they "clicked" on the .exe program
and it self installed and mailed everyone in their
address book.

you will also notice a very slow internet as its emailing
every time you have a dialup conn. made, DSL may not notice
it as much.

all the antivirus websites have complete details about it.
