How many clownfish

I thought that it was obvious at the time that I wrote the original
message, but you are right, it may not be. We have had these guys for
6 days. My original message talks about the first 4 days, and that
"now" they are set as a pair and a loner. I wasn't specific as to how
many days "now" included. Sorry for that.

There is 1 that is distinctly bigger than the others, female.

Then the two smaller ones are really close in size, but the one that
has "paired" up with the female is the larger of those two as well.

These guys are still fairly small at around 1.5 inches each, with the
female being just slightly larger in length.

you didnt give us enough information, what you really need to do is tell us how long they
have been in the tank. and about how big they are. however

you can only have 1 female clown
you can only have 1 male clown
you can have as many juv clowns as you feel like

for any reason you dont have one of the following these rules will apply

if you dont have a female and you do have a male it will change to a female
if you dont have a female or a male then the juv will convert to a female
if you have a female and dont have a male a juv will convert to a male
if you dont have either a male or a female one will convert to a female then another will
convert to a male
what ever is left stays a juv

if however

if you have a male and add a male it will be a fight to the death
if you have a female and add a female it will be a fight to the death
juv's dont really fight for teratory only upgrading to a male/female

this will take some time and the selection is usually domanance in a few instances a death
occurs in picking dominance


I hope i havent left anything out, its been posted a few times over the last few months,
and my "table" is getting better looking/organized, one of these days ill setup a few
responses for these kinds of questions but for now I retype them each time there needed.

On the chance that you are seriously asking.. a *troll* is someone who
intentionally posts a note in order to.. well.. just generally **** everyone
else off on a newsgroup. Usually it's an inflammatory remark based on the
subject of the newsgroup. For example, I have pet rabbits.. we're talking
real housepets, they are not in hutches out in the back yard.. I post on a
newsgroup about house rabbits. Every so often some idiot will come in asking
for recipes.. and of course there are always the other idiots who KNOW what
is going on but just cannot contain themselves and just simply MUST respond
about how sick this person is etc etc... In this group it is often someone
extolling the virtues of using live fish to cycle tanks.

The size thing is based on dominance (the one with the biggest bite wins).
It's not always correct because being the biggest don't make you the
toughest. However it is usually the case. My guess would be that the loner
will probably remain a loner for the most part unless you have a death in
which case it will step up in the chain as Richard was saying. You could
also add some other kinds of community fish and it might swim with them. I
just added a Tang to my set of clowns and they both seem to get along
pretty good with it. If you do decide on a Tang though you will need a
larger tank and it should be added as your last "type" of fish due to its
aggression. There are plenty of other fish that will go fine with the
clowns though. Just go to your LFS and see what they keep in the same tank
with their clowns. And ask questions before you buy anything. Hope this

My guess would be that the two that paired up would be the larger of the
three (maybe). What is probably going on is that you will soon have a
female, a male and a juvenile (the one by itself being the juv and still
unsexed). They should all be ok together. If you add more they might
not
get along because the new one might try to break the hierarchy that from
what you are saying has already been established. Also if one of the new
ones that you get is already sexed (not really any way to tell), You will
most likely wake up to one or more floaters.

I'm pretty new here but Clowns are my thing. The rest of you folks here

Ok then. Yes I was serious. Everything I post on the group is serious. I
though that due to the way he answered that it might be someone that just
sits back and watches and don't try to add anything. I thought that I was
one there for awhile but know that I am not due to your reply. I just sent
out a post asking for info on how to get to a certain group and put my
reason for asking as "I'm fairly new to newsgroups all together". Thanks
