Default Rec.ponds Roll Call?

Kirsten, 49, just relocated to Marietta, GA (just north of Atlanta) from San
Diego after 30 years there--just couldn't come up with half a mil++ to buy a
house there! One of the reasons I bought my house here was because of the
pond...little did I know what was involved :-)
I sell clothes at Nordstrom Department Store, travel, have two "kids"
Joey, my orange tabby and Charlie-girl, my black Persian mutt kitty.
Currently have five goldfish--one being the sole survivor from the former
owner who said, "there might be fish in there, I'm not sure"! I decided he
needed buddies, and it's so cool to see him swimming right next to them all
the time.

Just wondering if rec.ponds ever does a roll call every now and then?

Just to see where everyone is from and what other interests and hobbies
they may have?

Default Rec.ponds Roll Call?

I'm a civil War Re-enactor. I have been on A&E, History Channel,ect. I
was also in God's and Generals the movie. So between that and ponding I
have no time for anything else.

Once in a while I get to a car show. Me and my wife Rosemary have a
customed PT Cruiser we show.

We live in Lima, Ohio

Default Rec.ponds Roll Call?

Dave 65 and Carrie 57 retired and recently left MD/DC area for beautiful WV.
Ex-physicist and ex-computer analyst. We have 3 adult sons between us

Had a small pond when I lived in VA and built a slightly larger one when I
moved to my wife’s house in MD. My third one here in WV is the largest at
about 1400 gallons. Still tuning the waterfalls, so we have not introduced fish
yet.

Default Rec.ponds Roll Call?

My name is Godwin, I am a recovering PORG? Heck no, I am deep into PORG and
loving it.

In order to afford my PORG habits I practice Architecture on the side. I am
a Principal in one of the largest Architectural Firms on the West Coast of
USA.
My Younger Brother and I are in to this Koi habit (see his pond pictures in
my link below)

In addition to ponding, I collect classic American Cars (V8), and I love
Fishing (California to Mexico, to Canada, to Alaska) What a dichotomy!
I also love to travel. My family and I just got back from a Father's Day
trip to Mexico. Puerto Nuevo....All the Lobster I can eat......

My biggest interest for sure though is my family! My 3 brothers, 2 sisters,
mother (my father passed away), wife, and other family members. The worth
of a man is the family that loves him.

And I look forward to a friendly contest with BV as the resident court
jester! (He does have a head start on me though, being that English is my
second language!)

BV aka Jeff from Ellicott City, MD. So we're a zone 6ish pond. We get a hard
freeze in the winter, and 100+ temps in the summer.

I have one pond that is roughly 3000 gallons. I use a second smaller pond as
a VF, which overflows a stream back to the main pond. No UV and no
artificial, mechanical filtration. I used 45 mil EPDM for both ponds, and am
currently lining the stream with a layer of concrete for aesthetic purposes.
The plumbing is all 4'' PVC. We have a bottom drain, and use a 1000gph
Beckett pump.

I've got 4 Petsmart Koi mutts, 4 average goldies, and 1 glorious comet. Oh,
and we have somewhere around a bazillion fat head minnows.

The pond has been designed to be a natural looking, wildlife-friendly pond.
Rocks are used as an accent and do not line the entire perimeter. The
wildlife has crept in, and the pond is now home to at least 3-4 species of
frogs that live en masse in and around the pond.

You'll hear my pond refered to as Shareholders Pond and sometimes Rainbow
pond. To make a long story short, we've had some color issues with our
water. First clay, and then a painful experiment with dye. Nuff said? All
water parameters rock solid through both fiascos. LOL.

Other hobbies? BBQ'ing, rock climbing, music, my kids, F1 racing, and
anything that involves beer.

I got into ponding about 1.5 years ago, and dove in head first. I now have
my second pond liner in the yard ready to be sunk, and BTW, I traded a beer
for this liner. It's a hard preformed liner. I also have a piece of liner
ready for my soon to be installed Lotus garden.

Yes, I am a PORG, and damn proud of it.

BV.

If I could be so bold, I'd love it if everyone went over to
http://www.iheartmypond.com/General/...es/default.asp and added their
pond sites to the database! It'd be cool to have a single place for all of
us rec.ponders to hit for web sites.

BV.
