Default pH Levels

reading is the best thing I can recommend in this hobby and with you being
here, your off to a good start. you might want to check out reefcentral.com
if you haven't already.

to get your ph lower you can add regular white vinegar a little at the time
(5ml at the time in your 75) and recheck PH, this will bring it down safely
and not harm your fish/inverts.

I have a 75 Gal (RODI) with 50 lbs of LR 4 " of sand and live sand. 2
Power heads and a PRIZM skimmer. INSTANT OCEAN salt. I don't believe I've
added anything else to the tank. except pH increase. I don't know what
kalkwasser is, as you probably figured out, I'm knew to this hobby.

pH+ is supposed to set you at 8.3 magically. Are you positive you are

reading
the test kit correctly?

Can you tell us more about your setup, including if you are use

kalkwasser, type
of salt, etc...

I was using a RODI. pH came out a little low, I added pH+ and now

its
too
high... I'm in the middle of a partial water change to reduce the pH.
Unfortunately, RODI takes a while to come out...

I was told the optimum pH level is 8.2 ppm. I was also told that

if
they
go
higher, it's not really a problem, that the fish like it. I'm

hovering
around 9.0 ppm. Is this too high?

It is way too much - do you overdose kalkwasser?
