I have a new 54 Gallon corner tank that has finally cycled. I put 4
damsels in Monday and they seem quite happy. Anyhow, while the tank was cycling I noticed brown algae growing on the sandy bottom and on the glass. It seems to continue to grow although not at an alarming rate. What should I do? Is there a fish or shrimp that will eat it? Is it harmful or just not pretty to look at? Thanks. -- - Mark - -- |

diatom algae its normal, it will go away on its own as your tank matures.
there are a number of things that will consume it, just dont get something that must consume it, its not really a problem, there are things that will make it grow more new bulbs, disrupted cycle, silicates from your water. if you think on it a second 2 of the 3 are things every new tank must go thru. so you have it ![]() -- richard reynolds Mark A.
