Default OT - The end is near...

As some of you know, I work for a group of heart surgeons... well, they've
dropped the axe on us and told us this morning that some of the fat must be
trimmed...

They took away from us
- Medical Reimbursements
- Christmas Bonuses
- 2 offices are closing, 4 ppl out of 25 are getting released(the most pc
way of saying, "Your Fired!"

We have 3 offices in town, and plan is to consolidate 2 into 1 and close the
3rd. Relocate the main office to a more thriving area of town...

Without further ado, I might bid you farewell from this property and maybe
find anew somewhere else.... if I'm lucky.

Well Red,
I hope you are not one of those "let go" In the mean time I wonder if
you will be looking for work someplace else? I wish we had seen the
light a few years ago when our benefits were cut, instead of plugging on
only to come back from vacation to find that the company was "no more"
You keep us posted on this.

Vicki

What does this mean? Apart from a lot of people not getting the help they
need I mean. I'm being selfish and wondering if this means you won't be able
to be online anymore? That would be a shame as you probably are one of the
most valuable contributors in here...

I hope that Red wouldn't stop contributing even if he had to change
jobs.

However, we are all responsible for the downsizing, not just the
doctors. We want to pay less for everything. Over my lifetime
medical care has become much more sophisticated. Bypass surgery has
become common place. We want the treatment, but we can't afford the
treatment. We sue doctors over any error. Lucky car mechanics don't
get sued. We want all of the miracle drugs, but want the government
to force pharmaceutical firms to sell without covering their costs and
making profits. We go to Wal Mart and buy Chinese goods for the low
price, then compalin about "out sourcing." We all contribute to what
we don't like buy our own actions.

I cannot whine about what companies do, unless there is Enron type
fraud while I continue to search for lowest prices and continue to
vote for representatives in government to keep control of prices that
often reflect more sophisticated products. We want less emmissions
from our cars, but lower prices for the same car. My local board of
education prides itself on keeping the tax rate down, while the
community complains about not having the latest computer technology or
a new bus for the sports teams to run about Texas.

Good luck Red. If you are one to be let go, have hope that the change
may well be to a better job. I was fired many times in my life and
usually ended up better off. Perhaps Bush is onto something important
when he speaks of portability of benefits as a desirable goal.

And now they bitch and moan over needing to overhaul healthcare. What a
joke. Guys like him are the reason it is so screwed up!

As oppossed to Dick Cheney who decieved Haliburton stock holders ot
"Presdident" Bush who uses the US Army to fulfill his personal vendeta
and to finish what daddy started. I put president in quotation because
Bush never won the election.

Someone is making money somewhere, and it is not only from lawsuits.

My elderly mother had heartbypass and the total figure, including all
recuperative care outside of the hospital, came to well over $500,000. The
surgery per se was about 30% of that.

Medicare paid its part and we had secondary insurance. Now you know where
your taxes go.
