Default F*cking mollies:-)

Well, we had two female white mollies in a tank upstairs and moved them this
evening to the 50 gallon tank downstairs which had a male and female.

Well, hot diggity but the male was all over the place and im pretty sure
managed to mate with one if not more of the females :-)

So, the question is, what now??

Ask the dad molly if it's okay if the female has an abortion, then clear up
the details with her.
He might not like the idea, so you may need to school him on the costs of
child support.
When he realizes 1/2 his pay will go to support his kids he'll probably be
all for the abortion.

I'd say sit back and enjoy. Live birth is a pretty cool thing to watch.

Especially when Mom and Dad make a meal of 'em shortly after.
They will do their own ethnic cleansing.

You might as well start asking what you are going to do with the fry.
I moved a female to my quarantine tank and the next morning there were
50 fry, a cloud of the things. Most lived and I ended up putting
mollies in all my tanks. The natural actions of these lusty live
bearers will overwhelm all the tanks you can afford and have space to
make available.

I have no segregated all live bearers by sex. I still have one platty
that I have kept an eye one for months and now think it is a male for
sure, but I dread chasing it around the 75 gallon tank. These young
ones tend to be very evasive.

Putting females together is pretty risk free, but boys will be boys.
I have had to move males around trying to find compatible
associations. I have also lost a few male mollies over the months
after separation. I have had it with live bearers. A pox on them
all!

Heh, I just got your subject line :-)

Anyway, my local Petco will accept some fish as donations, which they
will adopt out for no cost. This might be an option with fish shops near
you.

Otherwise, you may want to find a school or university that might want
them for classrooms or research.

Lastly, maybe you could find someone who wants to set up a new tank; you
could provide them with a fish stock at little or no cost.

See the last subject at http://faq.thekrib.com/breeding.html#raising
