Fish feeding question ...

you can get a food ring fromthe LFS.. Basically just a plastic ring wé a
suction cup... stick it so the ring is at the surface and put the food in
it.... also cuts down on waste in the tank...

Got a problem that could just be due to my stupidity ...

Whenever I feed my fish with food that basically floats or stays close to
the top, some of the food eventually gets sucked into my hang-on filter
intake before the fish have a chance to grab it.

I was thinking of putting a net or something around the intake, but then
the
food would just get caught on that. Any other clever ideas?
