Absolutely. The whole concept behind the reactor is to
fluidize the media so that all the grains have their entire
surface area bathed in tank water.

The information I've read states that once you've got the
phosphates down to near 0, they'll stay down by running the
reactor with the same media for 3 to 6 months.

The reason I went through so much media is because I have a
300g system and the reactor is rated for 150g. I could have
bought a second reactor to speed things up, but I just
worked on this at a slower pace.

Does it make a big difference to use the phosban reactor, versus simply
placing the bag in front of a strong current in the sump?

Steve, I've been running mine since I got back from MACNA. My PO4 was at
2.0 before I used it, and after going through all the Phosban I had on
hand (4 or 5 150g doses - one each week), I've switched to ROWAphos. I
ran that stuff for about 3 weeks, and just replaced it with a new batch.
Tonight's PO4 is .5

I'm getting there. It is a simple device and cheap enough that there is
no need to DIY, you know?

I've had my Phosban reactor running for about 2 weeks now & it has
killed about 40% of my bryopsis.
There's no question here, I'm just super happy that the thing is
really working. Unlike other stuff that claims to work but never really
does. Also I think adding about 100 astreas to my 60g tank is helping.
Hopefully it will all be gone within the next few months & I can start
enjoying my tank again w/o the threat of my SPS being smothered!
