Just came back from shopping and I stopped into a shop that has been
favorable mentioned here. They have on display and are selling a glass tank (probably no more than 30 gal or less), complete with lighting and a some kind of built in media filter. Kind of an all in one kit - the tank is a weird shape - kind of deeper than wide). All for $199.00 Canadian! Most amazingly, it's got about $400 or more worth of livestock in it including live rock, 3 clown fish (they call it the "Nemo" tank), AND 4-5 corals including some hard corals. The store owner said that it's been going for a couple of months with no apparent problems, all healthy, etc. He uses treated tap water to top up, no skimmer, just really really simple. How can this be? |

I've been running a 30G seahorse hex tank like that for about 2 years (use
RO water), I've got 2 13W PC lights, and a powerhead, nothing else. As for corals all I have are leathers (growing) and shrooms (just surviving); 3 inch sand bed and a few pounds of live rock I suspect the hard corals are slowly dying assuming the lights are wimpy in there. I try to do a water change every 2 weeks. Sounds like a good buy but I'd try to jam more lights in if you can and/or sell off some of the more demanding corals. Where is this place, I may pick it up if close by and you don't want it. "Tom Burns" wrote in message ... How can this be? It sounds like a mis-understanding to me. Are you SURE the livestock is included? ~Mort |
