Hi,
I am a newbie to fishkeeping. I set up a tank about 3 weeks ago. It is a 29 gallon with two goldfish. My comet has been acting fine, but I noticed that he had white poop, and his tail(he is white) looks a little irritated(can see his veins a bit?). He is swimming normally, actively looking for food and he swims with the other fish in the tank(he is not keeping to himself). Since I am new at this, I do wonder if feeding him too much could cause the white poop? Or is this a bacterial infection? Water quality seems fine, ammonia did get to .50 but I have been doing 25% water changes to make sure it doesn't spike up. The PH is around 8 but all the water here is and LFS said that it is better to leave it steady then keep adjusting it, that the fish would adapt. Nitrites, Nitrates, are testing 0? The water has been cloudy, but I was assuming it was bacterial bloom? I have a bio wheel filter. Just trying to go through any questions you might have asked about the water, fish, etc. Thanks! Cecile |

Sorry, I just checked my records, Nitrate was at 5? It was zero previously, with ammonia being a little higher. Now ammonia is hardly present but Nitrate climbing. Is this an indication that my biological filter is kicking in? Thanks!

Keep monitoring and do water changes to control the levels. Streaks in the tail is an indication of poor water quality (usually). White pooh could indeed be a bacterial infection have you got any medicated food? Medigold? |

I didn't see medigold around here, I did see that I could order it online? I saw some medicated foot at the LFS by Jungle, for bacterial infections. Also, my two fish are chasing each other like mad. They take turns, but as far as I can see they are not nipping or anything? Have you heard anything about the jungle brand, or will it hurt to go ahead and purchase the medigold online and wait? Thanks! Cecileew |

I've heard that goldfish needs extra filters. A |

You can order the Medigold here
https://www.goldfishconnection.com/s...php?parentId=5 When ever I have placed an order with goldfishconnection I received it in a few days : ) I know the medigold is good, not sure about the jungle product.....if thats all you can get its worth a shot. Keep doing water changes and maybe add some aquarium salt and that should help quite a bit. |

Hi! Just wanted to let you know that I received the medigold a few days ago and I have been feeding it to the fish. I had a question? Can you soak the medigold before giving it to the fish? It seems rock hard, and large pieces for my goldfish. I cut the food in half and fed the fish, but my fantail(major pig) will eat a piece, then it takes him an hour or so to finish it(looks like he has a rock in his mouth!).
