Oh yeah... Also, I wonder how many aquarists flush the little guys assuming
they are dead...??

Actually, a major trait among sea slugs and especially sea cucumbers is

the
ability to regenerate their organs. If I'm not mistaken, the sea

cucumber's
common defense is to extract their organs in the hope to ward off or

"feed"
a potential predator. Then they just grow back new ones.

I picked up one of those fancy D-Link robotic cameras, so I can keep an

eye
on the guys when I am away..
(Great excuse for a new toy since my wife worries about them as much as

I
do..)

Right now it is watching my Quarantine Tank. One of my clowns became

sick
but is on his way to a great recovery.
Also in this tank are some snails to clean up the place and my Lettuce
Nudibrach (Slug) who had his guts sucked out about a month ago by the
overflow.. He too is recovering... Amazing considering he went from 4

inches
to about 1 inch after loosing his guts.. He is back up to nearly two.. I

am
guessing that they can regenerate their internal organs..???

Good question.
In the ocean, a sea cucumber's entrails isn't so toxic considering the water
volume. How's that saying go? The solution to pollution is dillution? =)
However, in the confined space of a tank, even a big one, it may be toxic
enough to wipe out a system. Once the aquarist sees everything else dying,
they probably do assume the cucumber is dead as well.

Yeap. Beside toxic release. Also, slug or cucumber alike have tend to go
into intake like - powerpump / filter and PVC input. Using grille may not
help.
