Default A fry is born

Hi everyone,

I can home from work the other night to find a few fish eggs stuck to the
side of my tank & one egg stuck to the back of a yabby (fresh water
crayfish) in my tank. I thought it was strange its the middle of winter here
in Australia I didnt think it was fish breading time. Then again what else
can you do in the middle of winter

The fry have hatched I so far have pulled 3 out of the tank into a spare
tank.
I have never raised fry. (first time dad )At the moment I have them in
water from my main tank.

I will be doing some research on the net as well but I thought I would get
some opinions as well

Questions.

1 Do I filter?
2 I have a small Resun Magi 200 it moves about 200L per hour. Will it suck
them up?
3 Do I do my usual water changes to the fry tank as well?
4 What do I feed them? they seemed to be happy consuming a very sparce
amount of fungus (I missed a spot when I cleaned the tank) on the glass of
the tank when i caught them.

anything I missed?

Scott,

Dont use a filter. Do 50% water changes daily.
Get a lettuce leaf and put it in the window with tank
water (and sealed) for two days - the water will go green,
feed this water sparingly. You could also raise some baby brine shrimp,
fry love this. Feed sparingly but often (3 times a day).
Whilst they are clinging to the sides no need to feed.
Most important factor is feeding and keeping water very very clean.

a sponge filter is what I seen other breeders use.
more water changes, but use aged water.
you can take high quality regular fish food and grind it up very small and give them
a pinch, but green water is best.
